The last rites of Ang Rita Sherpa aka ‘Snow Leopard’, who had scaled Mt. Everest or Sagarmatha for 10 times without the assistance of bottled oxygen, were performed in Kathmandu on Wednesday with state honours.
He had breathed his last on Monday morning at his own residence in Jorpati, Kathmandu. He had been atop Mt. Everest for the first time on 1983.
Along with Mt. Everest, Sherpa had climbed Mt. Ketu of Pakistan and Mt. Choyu, Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Annapurna and Mt. Dhaulagiri, among others, for several times.
