Lalitpur: Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabra has constituted another constitutional bench to hear the case against the dissolution of the House of Representatives. The bench has been reorganized with Sapna Pradhan Malla in place of Harikrishna Karki.
The other three judges are still in the Constitutional Court. Vishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, Anil Kumar Sinha, and Tej Bahadur KC have got continuity in the session.
Judge Harikrishna Karki had questioned KP Oli saying that he was the Attorney General when he was the Prime Minister for the first time.
Similarly, the Nepal Bar Association has recommended senior advocates Badri Bahadur Karki, Satish Krishna Kharel, and Vijay Kant Mainali in the amicus curiae demanded by the court while the Supreme Bar Association has recommended the names of senior advocates Purnaman Shakya and Geeta Pathak.
On the recommendation of the Prime Minister, 13 right petitions were filed against the decision of the President to dissolve the House of Representatives.
Advocate Pravesh KC had filed the petition on behalf of the dissolved members of the House of Representatives Dev Prasad Gurung, Krishna Bhakta Pokhrel, Shashi Shrestha, and Ram Kumari Jhankri.
Similarly, senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi and advocates Shalikram Sapkota, Gyanendra Raj Aran, Samrit Kharel, Kanchan Krishna Neupane, Santosh Bhandari, Deepak Rai, Amita Gautam, Lokendra Bahadur KC, Kamal Bahadur Khatri, Maniram Upadhyay, Tulasi Sinkhada, and Achyut Prasad Kharel had filed the petition.
