Saudi Arabia has imposed a blockade on Qatar for three and a half years. Saudi Arabia has led a blockade
against Qatar, accusing
it of sponsoring Islamic extremists. Qatar, a small but prosperous country, was under siege after Saudi Arabia’s
move was joined by other Gulf states such as the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt. According to Kuwaiti officials, Saudi
Arabia has agreed to open land and sea ports with Qatar. The conference of the Gulf Cooperation Council is
starting in Saudi Arabia from today. . The conference will be attended by leaders including King Salman of
Saudi Arabia and Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, according to international news agencies.
Officials from Kuwait and the US administration, who have played a key role in lifting the blockade, will also
attend.
