The semi-final match of the first Lumbini Cup National Women’s Volleyball Tournament in Rampur has been completed. With the completion of the remaining matches of the league stage on Monday, the match of the semi-finals has been completed.
APF Club of Armed Police Force, Bagmati Province, Lumbini Province and Koshi Province have entered the semi-finals of the competition. In the group stage match, APF reached the semi-finals by becoming the winner from Group ‘A’ and the runner-up from Lumbini Province, the winner from Group ‘V’ from Bagmati Province and the runner-up from Koshi Province. APF Club won the group after defeating Karnali, Lumbini and Gandaki in straight sets. In the third match held today, APF defeated Gandaki Pradesh 3-0 in straight sets. APF reached the semi-finals after losing 25-7, 25-17 and 25-9.
Bagmati Sudurpaschim and Koshi in Group “V” managed to make it to the top by winning the match. Madhesh won 3-0 in the last match of the group stage. Bagmati won the match by 25-6, 25-8 and 25-13 points. Lumbini, who had a win with Gandaki and a loss with APF, managed to defeat Karnali Pradesh by 3-1 sets in the last match of the league stage. Lumbini reached the semi-finals by winning 19-25, 25-17, 25-10 and 25-17.
After a 3-1 set win against Madhesh Pradesh and a 3-0 loss against Bagmati, Koshi defeated Sudurpaschim in straight sets in the third match. Koshi region managed to win with 25-20, 25-19 and 25-14 points. In the group stage match between Sudurpaschim and Madhesh Pradesh, which was stopped since last Saturday, Madhesh Pradesh won 3-2 sets. Madhesh Province and Gandaki Province managed to win one match each in the group stage match. Karnali and Sudurpaschim could not win any match.
In two semi-final matches on Tuesday, departmental teams of Armed Police Force APF and Koshi Province and Bagmati Province and Lumbini Province will compete for entry to the finals. Although the final match was supposed to be played on the 22nd, Sunday’s match was affected by rain, but it will be played on the 23rd.
Rampur ongoing competition was held in Leaguecom knockout system. Organized by District Volleyball Association Palpa and promoted by Provincial Sports Council Lumbini, the final match of the tournament which has been going on since February 18 will be held on 23rd. The winners of the first, second, third and consolation groups in the competition will receive trophies, medals and certificates along with Rs.250,000, Rs.150,000 and Rs.75,000 respectively.
