Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Surendraraj Pandey has dismissed the ministers of CPN (Maoist Centre).
There were two ministers in the Gandaki government from the Maoists.
Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Resham Bahadur Jugjali Magar and Social Development Minister Sushila Sinkhada were removed from their posts by Chief Minister Pandey on Tuesday. Magar Myagdi and Sinkhada are from Gorkha.
CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, who is also the Prime Minister, broke the alliance with Congress on Monday and formed a new alliance with CPN (UML) and RSVP.
The new coalition also agreed to run alternate governments in the federal and state governments.
3 ministers from the new coalition in the federal government took oath on Monday. After that, the ministers of the party along with the Congress automatically left.
Since Prime Minister Dahal broke the alliance in the union, its effect has also been seen in the province.
The Chief Minister of Gandaki is Pandey, who is also a member of the Congress Central Committee, and was elected from Gorkha Region No. 2 of 2. Prime Minister Dahal was also elected from Gorkha region number 2 in the elections held in November 2019. At that time, the Congress and Maoists had contested the election in alliance.
Chief Minister Pandey said that he removed two ministers of Maoists.
“Prachandaji broke the equation above, I broke the one (Gandaki) here,” he said, “the rest will happen later.”
In Gandaki, there are 27 MPs from Congress, 22 from UML, 8 from Maoists including Speaker, 2 from RP and 1 from United Socialist Party. A majority requires 31 MPs.
According to the new alliance formed in the union, majority is not enough to form the government in Gandaki. There are a total of 30 MPs including 22 from UML and 8 from Maoists. RPP and United Socialists are not included in the alliance formed in the Sangh.
