Lalitpur: Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has directed the Nepal Police to get involved in the preparations for the April elections.
Congratulating the police officer who was promoted from Senior Superintendent of Police to Deputy Inspector General of Police at the Ministry of Home Affairs today, he directed him to participate in the election.
“The government has promoted you believing in your ability. Fulfill your responsibility by maintaining that faith,” he said.
He said that the police had the responsibility to make necessary preparations for the election on the one hand and to control the possible movement on the other.
“Protests are allowed in a democracy, but not in a way that affects peace, security, and order,” he said.
Stating that the security challenge has increased recently, Home Minister Thapa directed to make a security plan to face it.
Home Secretary Maheshwar Neupane, Inspector General of Police Shailesh Thapa Chhetri, and others were present on the occasion.
