Kathmandu: Food shortage has started in rural areas after the Khalanga-Dallek-Khar road was blocked for about a month. Locals say that food is running out in various settlements of Naugad village municipality due to poor road conditions.

Narisingh Thagunna of Naugad Gaonpalika-1 said that he had gone to the lake to collect herbs including Yarchagumbul while collecting local food.

According to him, those who had gone to collect yarsa to collect food for the rainy season had returned home from the lake soon. They are in trouble as the road to the village is blocked.

“Due to the road problems, it has become difficult to carry food and other items on the back as the sidewalks have collapsed,” said Thagunna.
