Kathmandu / The Election Commission (EC) has started the process to end the legitimacy dispute of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN). The commission has started the process of resolving the legitimacy dispute after the Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal group and the group led by KP Oli started making various demands in the commission saying that the CPN (Maoist) should be on their side.

For that, the commission has studied the legitimacy claims and documents received from both the parties and sent a letter to both the parties. The legal branch of the commission has stated that it has sent a letter to both parties after studying the documents received by the commission. The letter states that one group has been given a deadline to submit insufficient documents while the other group has been given legal information.

According to the commission, the letter from the Dahal-Madhav faction claimed the party’s name, flag, and election symbol as it had a majority of central members in the old party. In the letter of Oli’s side, the commission has been informed only about the expansion of the Central Committee and the amendment of the constitution.

The commission has received three letters from the two groups on different dates from one side and two letters from the other side on two different dates. Commission spokesperson Raj Kumar Shrestha said that the commission had sent a letter to both the groups to take necessary legal action after looking at the copy of the decision of the Central Committee received from both the parties
