So far, approximately 1,655,000 Muslim pilgrims have traveled to Saudi Arabia for Hajj. According to the Passport Directorate of Saudi Arabia, a total of 1,655,188 foreign pilgrims have arrived there as of Saturday to perform Hajj. Among them, 1,587,590 arrived by air, 69,768 arrived by road, and 6,830 arrived by sea. This year’s Hajj pilgrimage began on the 21st of May. Saudi officials estimated that around 2 million pilgrims would perform Hajj this year. In Islam, Hajj is one of the five pillars and is mandatory for all able-bodied Muslims who can afford it. The other four pillars are Shahada (faith), Salat (prayer), Zakat (charity), and Sawm (fasting).
